Shibli Nomani (1857-1914) was an Islamic scholar, poet, philosopher, historian, educational thinker, author, orator, reformer and critic of orientalists from Indian subcontinent during the British Raj. He is regarded as the father of Urdu historiography. He was also proficient in Arabic and Persian languages.
Shibli was a prolific writer, and he produced a vast body of work in a variety of genres, including history, biography, poetry, and philosophy. His most famous work is perhaps his 11-volume history of Islam, Sirat-un-Nabi. He also wrote a number of important works on Urdu literature and criticism, including Sher-ul-Ajam, a study of Persian poetry.
Allama Shibli Nomani started to write Seerat Un Nabi but he died and leftit incomplete. After his death, Allama Syed Sulaiman Nadvi completed the remaining two parts of the book.
