Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta announced his resignation over election irregularities while holding a press conference at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
He stated that, We won 13 people from Rawalpindi on the night of February 8 and converted the lost candidates into a lead of 50,000. I have done injustice in Rawalpindi Division. Due to the pressure, I tried to commit suicide this morning, then I thought why should I die a forbidden death, why not put everything in front of the public.
Liaquat Ali Chatta said that Chief Justice and Chief Election Commissioner are involved in rigging. Independent candidates with 70,000 leads were defeated by using fake seals, I take full responsibility for the matter. I should be hanged, I cannot be a part of the crime of breaking Pakistan.
A consultative meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa is going on in Islamabad. The allegations leveled by Commissioner Rawalpindi will be reviewed. Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, speaking briefly to the media, said that the accusers should also present evidence.
